Riding for causes

You need to take a time out from life and have fun every once in awhile.

That seems to be the view of Nancy Stiles, who is riding her horse, Cole, a total of 330 kilometers from Delia to her new home in Dewberry this week.

"My horse has been in my life for 12 years. He is my best friend almost," Stiles said.

"Nobody ever takes time to enjoy things they like to do."

"Like I love riding horses and this is going to be an opportunity for me and my horse to have a whole week together with nothing in the way," she added.

Originally, the one week trek on horseback was purely for enjoyment, Stiles said, but it has now evolved into something more.

The ride has now become a fundraising event as well, with Stiles raising funds for three different causes; The Kidney Foundation, Children's Cancer Research, and the construction of a new community hall in Dewberry.

Stiles said she chose to fundraise for more than one cause because not everyone supports every charity.

She added that she picked these three charities because she has connections to all three of them.

Stiles is inviting others to join her too. She said she already has a few riders who will be joining her on the way to Dewberry and is ready to welcome more.

"Lots of people don't ever get to do something like this, so maybe they would want to be a part of it."

"You know you ride through a community and they say, 'Hey! That would be fun,' well, they can come," Stiles said.

She added that there is no obligation to fundraise for anyone wishing to join her.

Stiles, a hairdresser by trade, said she will be moving to Dewberry with her husband and will be working at a hair shop there.

She added she will probably open up her own shop in another small town near Dewberry sometime in the future.

Stiles departed from Delia on July 9 along with a few riders from Delia who were seeing her off.

She will be arriving in Dewberry on July 16.

As you already know, Twitter is shy to call sponsored tweets ads, paid, or anything that may imply a form of cash.
