The Jamaica-born singer is focused on not only making it in her chosen field, but also ministering to hungry souls through her music.
It wasn’t hard for Hamilton to fall in love with music as her father was a part of the Jamaican Folk Singers and this, she said, held a big fascination for her.
“I was fascinated with him going on tours and doing what he liked,” she reminisced. It wasn’t long before Hamilton figured out that she liked the music business — the folk form was not for her, though; she enjoyed R&B style of singing.
For Hamilton, not singing gospel songs was never an option as she grew up in a Christian home and had that value instilled in her by her “aunt Sonia”.
According to Hamilton, the first time she accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour was more from a ‘follow fashion’ than any real conviction.
“I accepted God because I saw everyone else doing it. I thought it was the right step to make at that time,” she confessed. Eventually, though, her spiritual life took on real meaning and Hamilton could later admit that “I’m happy that I made that step because Jesus truly is the best thing that ever happened to me.”
Hamilton’s journey as a gospel singer started with her doing background vocals for Goddy Goddy and other wellknown local gospel acts.
The seed for her to go solo was planted when someone prophesied to her that she would become a solo gospel artiste and that her ministry would take her across the world.
“I was a bit hesitant and I prayed asking God if it was His will,” Hamilton shared, adding that she also asked the Lord to open doors and provide opportunities for her to minister, and he did.
A year after that prophetic word Hamilton migrated to the United States where she met her present manager Linton Atkinson of Adamah8 Records.
