The place where "fashion meets science," Zafu, it seems, has cracked the code to finding the perfect pair of jeans for any woman, regardless of body shape or size. The creators of Zafu have spent the past four years examining and deconstructing more than 100 brands of jeans to understand how each style fits individual body types.
Now, women log onto the website and answer a series of questions in two to three minutes about their own body and jean preferences.
It's hard to imagine how this yields such great results, but apparently this is where the science part comes in. Users answer from a series of questions, such as, "Do jeans usually gape at your waist?" and "How would you describe your thighs?"
By combining these answers, the Zafu geniuses create a virtual version of your body and then pick the best brands and styles for you. Users can then print out cheat sheets to take shopping, explaining which size and fit is ideal for each brand. You can even narrow your options down based on specific brands you want to shop for or prices you're willing to spend.
We should note that Zafu does not serve as an online shopping site. It merely gives you recommendations to take to the store.
But with more than 7.1 million virtually fitted over the last four years and 94 percent of women reporting finding the perfect pair of jeans, it's easy to see why Time Magazine named Zafu a top-10 website in 2006, the year the site officially launched.
However, such shopping brilliance comes with a small price tag. A trial run with Zafu costs a flat $5 and then users are charged $15 for every year of service after. While its approval ratings are high, Zafu could do better if it offered women a free trial run, to give them a chance to test out the service. Signing up for this site, if you haven't read any other reviews on it, is sort of like taking a leap of faith - you just have to trust that it will work for you. Luckily, for most women, it seems to do just that.
