Police drop chase to protect citizens
The driver of a stolen vehicle eluded officers from several local law enforcement agencies this morning and is still at large with the car.
The vehicle, a red Dodge Charger with Washington plate ABX8938, was identified as stolen by the license plate recognition system cameras posted on I-90 in Post Falls.
Post Falls Police officers followed the vehicle into Coeur d’Alene where they initiated a traffic stop with assistance from the Coeur d’Alene Police Department and the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department.
Coeur d’Alene Police Sgt. Christie Wood told the Press that the vehicle pulled over, but then took off as officers began to approach.
A chase ensued.
“The driver was reckless and going at high speeds so the officers discontinued due to safety concerns for citizens,” Wood reported.
During the incident, scanner activity indicated the vehicle had an Aryan Nations sticker on it, and was driving up to 100 m.p.h.
The real story here is about the license plate recognition system on the freeway ... bought and paid for by the bail-out of 2009 via federal government. Why don't they tell you that they can see the front of the car as well, furthermore, that they have a facial recognition system utilizing biometric technology with can identify the driver if he has recently upgraded his license to a fancy new biometric ID? ....Enter 1984. Enjoy your stay slaves.
This article was missing some important details. The driver of the vehicle was in the westbound lane gone east...I know this because I almost had a head-on collision with him. I was getting gas in Wallace, Idaho when several police cars went through town with sirens blaring. I was unaware of what was happening, so after filling up I got on the freeway and and truly came close to losing my life. Why did the police not block the entrance onto the freeway?? Why were they endangering lives by blasting down the interstate, and why did they not have a helicopter chasing this guy instead of a dozen police cars? And, why was this information not shared with the public?!?!
I have no idea what they get paid, but being a mechanic I know cars and what they're capable of. The cops were pretty motivated to catch this guy based on how they were driving as I saw first hand. Again, I second officer Wood that the guy was driving extremely reckless.
