'Free' ticket to Modest Mouse

Well, as there's no such thing as a free lunch, there should be no such thing as a "free" ticket. So, you have to think of a prize for me. You have to come up with something you are prepared to offer in exchange for the ticket. You could make me a mix-tape; you might have some old record you think I'm after. You might know what books I like. You might have a copy of Max Roach's To the Max! album (wow that really would be something!) You might not have anything worthwhile - in other words the new album by The Horrors .
So that's it, it's that simple. Also, are any of you already going to one of the Modest Mouse gigs? Any of you going to more than one? What's your favourite song/s or albums? Or have you tried to enjoy Modest Mouse's music and it's just not for you? I liked their addition to the recent Buddy Holly tribute album . Huh! Your introduction to Modest Mouse sounds like my own, in that I'd never even heard of them until I was on an Air NZ flight when I was bored with the movie selection and checked out the music on offer. As soon as I got home, I bought "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" (still my favourite), followed by "Good News for People Who Like Bad News", then bought "The Moon and Antarctica" and "The Lonesome Crowded West" for my son who shares much of my taste in music.
I put "We Were Dead..." on the car stereo one day while my wife and sister-in-law were in the car, and they freaked out and went "What's this crap!?! Turn it off!" LOL. However, my wife now likes it (at least that album.
I'm not going to offer you a gift - I'd screw it up for sure, as you seem to mainly have musical tastes diametrically opposed to mine. While I wouldn't mind taking my son to Modest Mouse, his reaction to the suggestion was so lukewarm (probably because he's depressed) that I didn't bother buying tickets.
I think I like "We were Dead..." the best, as it takes the listener on a journey. MM are my favourite band, because I love the manic quality of the lyrics and singing - kinda like a more arty punk, and the lyrics remind me of some of the crazy ideas I've had while manic myself. Not just that, but some of them challenge perceptions we hold for no solid reason. A favourite song? Dunno - depends what mood I'm in, but maybe "The World at Large", or "Float On", or "Parting of the Sensory". Yeah, probably the latter.
